What does Mounjaro cost per month?
Mounjaro is normally taken once a week. A KwikPen contains four doses, covering four weeks of treatment. The medication cost can therefore be described approximately as 1 999–4 839 kr per four weeks, depending on strength. 'Per four weeks' is more accurate than 'per calendar month', because four weeks is 28 days. Over a full year, this difference matters when calculating total costs.
Mounjaro price per dose
For a pack containing four weekly doses, the cost per dose can be estimated by dividing the pack price by four. For example: 1 999 kr ÷ 4 ≈ 500 kr per weekly dose, and the highest strength approximately 1 210 kr per weekly dose. This is a price calculation only. Patients must not choose a strength or change their dose on the basis of price. Dosing is determined by the medical treatment plan.
What does Mounjaro 2.5 mg cost?
Mounjaro 2.5 mg is the starting strength in the product information. The price shown here is approximately 1 999 kr for four doses, equivalent to approximately 500 kr per weekly dose. The 2.5 mg strength should not be regarded as a permanent 'cheaper option' simply because it costs less. Dosing follows the treatment plan and is assessed medically.
What do Mounjaro 5, 7.5, 10 and 12.5 mg cost?
At our price review, the intermediate strengths cost approximately 2 699–2 715 kr (5 mg), 3 789–3 799 kr (7.5 mg), 3 799 kr (10 mg) and 4 819–4 839 kr (12.5 mg) for four doses. As the medicine is not covered by high-cost protection, checking its price is particularly relevant before any dose change. Do not calculate the entire treatment cost using the 2.5 mg price if the dose later changes.
What does Mounjaro 15 mg cost?
Mounjaro 15 mg is the highest available strength. At our price review in August 2026, available packs cost up to approximately 4 819–4 839 kr for four doses, equivalent to approximately 1 210 kr per weekly dose. This figure is not a forecast of what a particular patient will pay: not all patients use 15 mg.
Why do different doses have different prices?
The price can rise with strength, different available packs can have different prices, and products of the same strength may be supplied by different companies through parallel imports. As Mounjaro is outside the pharmaceutical benefits scheme, it is particularly important to check the current price rather than relying on an older article.
Is Mounjaro covered by high-cost protection in 2026?
No. Mounjaro is prescription-only but is not included in high-cost protection according to the information in FASS. Patients therefore normally pay the full medication cost themselves. A prescription does not automatically mean a medicine is reimbursed. See high-cost protection and weight-loss medicines (Swedish).
Can Mounjaro be used for weight loss?
Yes. Swedish product information approves Mounjaro for weight management alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults with BMI ≥30 kg/m², or ≥27 to <30 kg/m² with at least one weight-related health condition. This does not mean Mounjaro is suitable for everyone who meets the criteria. Treatment requires an individual medical assessment.
Do you need a prescription for Mounjaro?
Yes. Mounjaro is prescription-only and cannot legally be bought as an ordinary over-the-counter weight-loss product. A doctor must first assess whether treatment is medically appropriate.
Is Mounjaro cheaper than Wegovy?
Wegovy is generally cheaper when comparing medication prices alone, based on prices checked in August 2026: Wegovy costs approximately 1 580–2 725 kr compared with Mounjaro at 1 999–4 839 kr for four doses. The difference is relatively small between the lower prices, but much larger when comparing higher Mounjaro strengths. This does not automatically make Wegovy a better treatment. Price and medical suitability are separate questions. See Wegovy price and our comparison of the lowest-cost GLP-1 medicines in Sweden (Swedish). To compare what different online weight-loss programmes include, see our guide to programme structure, doctor contact and follow-up (Swedish).
Mounjaro prices compared with Ozempic
Ozempic contains semaglutide and is primarily a treatment for type 2 diabetes. Mounjaro also has an approved weight-management indication for adults who meet the criteria. A price comparison for medical weight-loss treatment should therefore consider more than which medicine has the lowest pharmacy price.
What does Mounjaro cost over six months?
There is no single accurate six-month price, because the dose can change during treatment. Incorrectly calculating 1 999 kr × 6 assumes the patient remains at the same price level throughout, which may not happen. A more accurate approach calculates the actual cost of each four-week period using the strength taken.
What is the total cost of Mounjaro treatment?
The medication price is not the same as the total treatment cost. Total costs may include medication, medical assessment or healthcare, follow-up or programme fees, and any other mandatory charges. Two providers may therefore advertise very different monthly prices even when both charge separately for medication.
Worked example — medication cost per period: with the starting dose at 1 999 kr per four weeks throughout, Mounjaro for 120 days (4 months) costs approximately 8 567 kr at the pharmacy (across all doses: 8 567–20 739 kr). Medication for one further month (30 days) costs approximately 2 142–5 185 kr, and up to 5 185 kr at the highest dose (4 819–4 839 kr per four weeks). Illustrative calculation, not a cost guarantee: the medication price per pack (four weekly doses = 28 days) is converted to the length of the period and assumes the same dose throughout. During escalation, the dose changes, medication is bought in whole packs and the doctor decides whether medication is appropriate at all. Any tests cost extra.
Our programme fee is separate from the medication: SEK 450 per month. Minimum 4 months (SEK 1,800 in total), then cancel whenever you like. Medication is not included in the programme price and is paid for separately at a pharmacy.
