What does Wegovy cost per month?
Wegovy is normally used once a week. A pack containing four weekly doses therefore covers four weeks of treatment. Based on prices checked in August 2026, this means approximately 1 580–2 725 kr per four weeks, depending on strength and the pack available. Quoting the cost per four weeks is more accurate than per calendar month, because four weeks is 28 days.
Wegovy price per dose
The price per weekly dose can be estimated by dividing the price for four doses by four. For example: 1 599 kr ÷ 4 ≈ 400 kr per weekly dose, and 2 725 kr ÷ 4 ≈ 681 kr per weekly dose. This is a price calculation only. A dose must not be chosen or changed on the basis of price.
What does Wegovy 0.25 mg cost?
Wegovy 0.25 mg is used at the start of the usual dose-escalation schedule. When we checked prices on 23 August 2026, it cost approximately 1 580–1 599 kr for four weekly doses, equivalent to approximately 395–400 kr per weekly dose.
What do Wegovy 0.5, 1 and 1.7 mg cost?
At our price review, the intermediate strengths cost approximately 1 870 kr (0.5 mg), 1 590 kr (1 mg) and 2 345 kr (1.7 mg) for four weekly doses. Use current price information rather than older fixed price lists. Your individual dose follows your treatment plan and should not be determined by which strength happens to be cheapest.
What does Wegovy 2.4 mg cost?
At our latest price review, Wegovy 2.4 mg cost approximately 2 699–2 725 kr for four weekly doses, equivalent to approximately 675–681 kr per weekly dose. Dosing must follow the doctor's prescription and current product information.
Why do different Wegovy strengths have different prices?
The price can be affected by strength, the pack available, the supplier or parallel import, and price changes over time. That is why we show the date of our latest price review and recommend checking the current pharmacy price when collecting the medication.
Is Wegovy covered by Sweden's high-cost protection scheme in 2026?
No. On 19 February 2026, TLV decided that Wegovy would not be included in the high-cost protection scheme for obesity treatment. Patients therefore normally pay for Wegovy themselves for this use. Prescription status and reimbursement are separate: one does not automatically imply the other. See high-cost protection and weight-loss medicines (Swedish).
Why is Wegovy not included in high-cost protection?
TLV's decision concerns reimbursement and cost-effectiveness within the pharmaceutical benefits scheme. It should not be described as a decision about whether Wegovy is medically effective or approved for obesity treatment.
Is Wegovy prescription-only?
Yes. Wegovy requires a prescription, so an individual medical assessment is needed before medication can be considered. Meeting the basic criteria does not automatically mean that Wegovy is suitable or that a prescription will be issued.
Who might Wegovy be intended for?
For adults, current product information describes Wegovy as an addition to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for weight management at a BMI of ≥30 kg/m², or ≥27 to <30 kg/m² with at least one weight-related health condition. Meeting the criteria still requires an individual medical assessment.
Is Wegovy cheaper than Mounjaro?
Generally yes, when comparing medication prices alone: Wegovy costs approximately 1 580–2 725 kr compared with Mounjaro at 1 999–4 839 kr for four doses. Wegovy therefore has a lower medication price in this comparison. However, a lower price does not automatically make a medicine medically better or more suitable. Mounjaro and Wegovy are different medicines, and the choice must be based on an individual medical assessment. See Mounjaro price and comparison of the lowest-cost GLP-1 medicines in Sweden (Swedish).
Wegovy or Ozempic — why is comparing prices not enough?
Wegovy and Ozempic both contain semaglutide, but they are different medicinal products with different approved uses. Wegovy has an approved indication for weight management, while Ozempic is used to treat type 2 diabetes. Comparing pharmacy prices alone and assuming that the cheaper product is a direct alternative for weight-loss treatment is therefore misleading.
What does Wegovy cost over six months?
There is no single accurate six-month price obtained by multiplying the starting-strength price by six, because the dose may change during treatment. A more realistic calculation uses the strength actually taken during each treatment period and the price of that strength at the time.
What does Wegovy cost per year?
The same principle applies over a year. Multiplying the starting-dose price by twelve can be misleading. A more accurate estimate adds up the actual medication cost for each four-week period.
Medication price and treatment price are different
This is one of the most important points when comparing weight-loss treatments. A healthcare provider's advertised monthly price may cover the healthcare service, medical follow-up, treatment programme or other included services rather than Wegovy itself. Medication may be paid for separately at a pharmacy. Always compare programme fees and medication costs separately.
How to calculate the total cost of Wegovy treatment
Total treatment cost = medication cost + healthcare/programme fees + any other mandatory charges
Always calculate programme and medication costs for the same period, and keep them as separate lines. Wegovy is bought in packs of four weekly doses.
Wegovy for the first 16 weeks: under the product information's escalation schedule, 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg are used during weeks 1–12 (three packs, approximately 5 040–5 059 kr), and a 1.7 mg pack is used in weeks 13–16 (approximately 2 345 kr). The medication for these four packs comes to approximately 7 385–7 404 kr at the pharmacy.
Wegovy for each further month: at the 2.4 mg maintenance dose, the medication costs approximately 2 892–2 920 kr per 30 days.
Our programme fee is separate from the medication: SEK 450 per month. Minimum 4 months (SEK 1,800 in total), then cancel whenever you like. Medication is not included in the programme price and is paid for separately at a pharmacy.
Illustrative calculation, not a cost guarantee: the medication price per pack (four weekly doses = 28 days) is converted to the length of the period and assumes the same dose throughout. During escalation, the dose changes, medication is bought in whole packs and the doctor decides whether medication is appropriate at all. Any tests cost extra. The escalation example counts whole packs according to the schedule. The maintenance example converts the four-week price to 30 days. See how the programme fee and medication price affect the total cost of Wegovy treatment (Swedish).
